I came across a line recently that stopped me cold:
“I hope you heal from the things no one ever apologized for.”
It cracked something open in me. Some wounds never got a name, a sorry, or a reckoning. And yet, here we are—carrying them still, trying to make peace with the silence. This piece poured out of me in response. It’s for anyone who’s had to heal in the dark. Anyone who was hurt and left to carry the weight alone.
“I hope you heal from the things no one ever apologized for.”
I saw this today and had so many thoughts about it.
This one sentiment covers so much ground.
Imagine being knocked over by pain and words and stabs of hatred or contempt from someone. Especially if it stole your innocence or made it nearly impossible to ever trust again. Especially if it changed your view of a mother, a father, a loved one who was supposed to protect you but hurt you instead. Your view of men. Of women.
What if they went on with their life after leaving you wounded and betrayed? Without repentance. Without ever taking responsibility for the vile things they have done to you.
What if they never apologize?
I hope you heal from that.
I hope that you find a way to stand up and fight your way back to life and are stronger and love harder and dig deeper for forgiveness. I hope you know that you are not alone. I hope you know that you cannot give up on love. That person…Those people cannot rob you of love. Or forgiveness. Or peace.
I hope you heal. 💛💛💛
If this met you where you are, I see you.
Some healing happens in silence, but you’re not alone.
These are just pieces of April—but maybe they’re pieces of you too.
